Resumo:
The objective of this work was the development of processing the composites by Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) with a low cost, through the development of injection subsystem, that can be attached to a universal mechanical testing machine, as well as its constituent elements, molds, resin and designed profiles, as well as the tests adopted for proper characterization and its subsequent validation. The methodology consists in the development of the RTM process, resin study, microstructural and mechanical characterization and preliminary calculation of permeability. Thixotropic saturated polyester resin, pre-accelerated catalyst and fiberglass as specified blanket for lamination, were use as building materials for this project, all produced by MEKOL®. Based on the experiments we can be concluded that the project is possible through the development and fabrication of two devices RTM, with low cost and own design, to manufacture composite plates with fully filled by resin, good surface and uniform dimensions, composed of 6 layers of fiberglass (basis weight of 450g/m²) and a resin with a viscosity of 200 to 400cps. An analysis of the total times of the activities became essential to the production rate, where a reduction of the 26.4 % was observed. The charge injection vary reached 91.17 % among processes that have adopted the different subsystems. As for the bending tests, it has been the variation in the maximum load between samples from the same plate was 6.05 % to 21.1% with an average ranging from between plates 16.68%. The process of final injection for processing composite plates was therefore adopted the SSI Type II, with injection mold RTM MP3 with below disposition.
