Resumo:
The caatingas of Northeastern Brazil constitute distinct physiognomies of vegetation on a large area of the national territory with low rainfall yearly average. It is in the elevations reported greater amount of rainfall in function of the orography. Another advantage of these areas of importance to the native vegetation is the difficulty imposed by the ground declivity to human cultures. The municipality of Cuité, Paraíba State, has elevations that reach the mark of 667m altitude, with slopes occasionally covered by Savanna Estépica of tree and shrub species, whose flora is still unknown. The Malpighiaceae family A. Juss. has in South America its largest center of diversity, particularly due to a large extent covered by savanna formations, such as the Cerrado and Caatinga biome, which is situated between the ten families of greater representation. This study aimed to carry out a floristic inventory and describe the species of Malpighiaceae family occurring in the municipality of Cuité, Paraíba, Brazil. To this goal, collections were made monthly during the period of July 2014 to June 2016, whose material was identified, treated as the usual methodology used in studies of this nature and incorporated into the collection of the Herbarium of the Center for Education and Health of Universidade Federal de Campina Grande. The family is represented in the area of study by 9 genera and 10 species: Byrsonima nitidifolia A. Juss.; Callaeum psilophyllum (A. Juss.) D. M. Johnson.; Carolus chlorocarpus (A. Juss.) W. R. Anderson; Diplopterys lutea (A. Juss.) W.R. Anderson.; Galphimia brasiliensis (L.) A. Juss.; Heteropterys catingarum A. Juss.; Janusia anisandra (A. Juss.) Griseb.; Stigmaphyllon ciliatum (Lam.) A. Juss.; Stigmaphyllon paralias A. Juss. and Thryallis longifolia Mart. Are presented identification keys, comments and data on the geographic distribution of the species.
