Abstract:
The environmental education understands the educational relationship of nature with man the integrates nature from practices of sustainability and also preservation of the environment. The understanding of environmental problems and action before them requires an ecological attitude of the citizens, which is built not only with content and information, but with processes of formation of the human subject. Therefore, this work proposes an experience of educational practices among the elderly in the municipality of Cuité-PB, with the objective of sensitizing them to environmental preservation through interdisciplinary activities involving elements of nature and culture. These actions were designed to stimulate critical thinking about environmental problems in the elderly. Environmental education with the elderly has an important meaning, since it allows them to be included in the discussion of the current problematic while at the same time embodying their lived experiences. The themes chosen were plants, garbage and water because they are great themes of environmental education and easy to relate to everyday life. The results show that it is possible to do environmental education with the elderly, there is participation and interest. There are reports that the elderly people are good multipliers of knowledge in their homes and neighborhoods through conversations and also with attitudes of preservation. Finally, it is necessary that the theme be more worked with the elderly public and that they be inserted in this discussion as agents able to multiply the knowledge and to promote new postures before the relations between the people and the nature.
