Resumen:
The time is common to all languages, to all cultures. We base our lives and our activities on
time, seeking a balance between our actions and the hours that they take to realize themselves,
and just as it manifests itself in our daily life is also manifested in speech. The presente work
has as main objective analyze the time of the speech in the popular tale, in order to propose a
didactic intervention in a class of 9th year of Primary Education II. Therefore, we discuss
theories related to the time of speech, distinguishing the linguistic time from the chronological
time, we selected the tale to be analyzed among those already collected in the state of Ceará,
and we describe the linguistic time and chronological time present in the speech of the
popular tale, with the intention of understanding the organization of human life. In order to
base our analysis, we look for support in the semiotic theory proposed by Greimas, as well as
in the reflections of Augustine (2015) and Benveniste (1989) about the problematic of time,
this, without ignoring other scholars and researchers in the area. The methodology is that of
Discourse Analysis, in a qualitative approach, considering that, the data were interpreted. The
research universe is composed of 30 tales of contadores from the state of Ceará, mostly
collected in Cariri Ceará. Among them, we select the tale A história D. Anin as corpus. From
the analysis undertaken, we find that the linguistic time present in the story is divided into
enunciation time, the time of the now and in time of the utterance, the time of the then, being
manifested sometimes by approximations and now by estrangement from enunciation, due to
direct and indirect speech. On the other hand, it was verified that the chronological time
centralizes in the decision of Ana to go to war and in the events that are unleashed after the
Ana exit of its house and later its return. The chronological time suggests passages of days
and nights.
