Resumen:
The objective of this work was to study the environmental perception of the students of Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences of the CES / UFCG - Cuité on the Horto Florestal Olho D’ Água da Bica (HFODB). Investigate the relationship of these students with space, identify the course subjects that use the space and discuss the importance of the area for the training of the biologist as a student and as a scientist. The Horto is an area with perennial springs, steep slope and edge of tray with vegetation of arboreal shrub Caatinga impacted. In addition to being used as a natural laboratory for course classes, its resources are also used by the population of Cuité. It is a place of environmental impacts, therefore, in need of recovery, especially since it is a Permanent Preservation Area (PPA). The study consisted of an exploratory qualitative research. Data collection was done through a questionnaire, with the participation of 65 students from the course. The analysis of the results was inspired by instruments of the Bardin Content Analysis method. The results showed that 49.23% of the participants attend HFODB only in Academic activities, 27.69% attend both in academic and leisure activities and 23.07% never went to Horto. The relationship between the participants and the HFODB was related to academic activities, leisure and direct use of resources. The importance of the place for the course, in the view of the students, is related to the practical classes, researches and for being an environment that provides the contact with the nature. For the participants the garden should be preserved, however, it is necessary to reflect on the restriction of the socio-environmental use of the place.
