Resumo:
Paleontology is a branch of science dedicated to the study of the different organisms that inhabited the Earth during the geological time. The teaching of Paleontology has been facing obstacles, ranging from the insufficiency and scarcity of contents to the lack of adequate methodologies that assist the student’s teaching and learning process. In this context, the present work aimed to promote the study of fossils associated with the teaching of Paleontology, spreading its importance and preservation, through pedagogical activities that facilitate the understanding and assimilation of the subject matter presented in the classroom, as well as evaluate the acceptance of these practices by high school students from Felipe Tiago Gomes, a State Elementary School institution, located in the city of Picuí in the state of Paraiba. These activities were developed in three stages: (1) Theoretical lecture and exhibition of the fossils; (2) Video and (3) Making fossil replicas. For data collection, we have used two semi-structured questionnaires, each containing four questions, using the Content Analysis technique, used by Silva (2014). The results obtained were positive, proving that working with Paleontological contents and using different methodologies make the classes more dynamic and pleasant, favoring the student’s construction of knowledge.
