Résumé:
The caatinga, characterized as the Brazilian ecosystem unique, it has fauna and flora
diversified, however, the loss of natural habitat, due to agricultural activities and rampant use
of natural resources, comes to bring about changes in vegetation cover, putting at risk the
diversity of species. The avifauna has been constantly threatened by human action, which
leads to reduction of their species. The agroforestry homegardens as an alternative to control
the anthropic pressures exerted to the caatinga, since they are formed by different vegetal
species accompanied by agricultural, with or without animals presence. Within this
perspective five agroforestry homegardens were analyzed in the city of Lavras da
Mangabeira, Ceará, where the vegetal diversity and the birds richness were recorded. We did
monthly visits in each Yard, during December 2016 to May 2017, between 6:00 a.m. to 10:00
a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., totalizing 210 sample hours. During this period, 49 plant
species belonging to 30 families and 51 species of birds in 23 families were recorded. It was
observed that the plant richness, presented greater complexity in the rainy season, the
homegardens with water resources, a greater birds diversity. Thus, are need new studies about
agroforestry homegardens and bird diversity in these systems, given the need for restoration
of degraded areas and preservation of avifauna living in the caatinga.
