Résumé:
The various changes that have occurred in recent years have added interest in the knowledge of the role of diet in the health of specific groups of the population. Whereas chronic non communicable diseases (CNCDs) have increased considerably. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of food intake and to determine the nutritional profile of students from a university residence of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), campus of Cuité / PB. It was a cross-sectional descriptive study and a quantitative approach developed in the form of a case study in the month of August and September of the year 2016, with 41 students being 27 female and 14 male residents of a University Residence. Students from all health and education courses offered by CES and all periods participated in the research. A nutritional evaluation was carried out and two semi-structured questionnaires were applied, addressing the socioeconomic profile, food consumption and individual lifestyle profile. After the data collection, the data were tabulated in Excel spreadsheets and descriptive analysis of frequency using the SPSS program. The BMI assessment revealed 53.9% of the male participants were overweight. Regarding waist circumference, they did not present a risk for metabolic diseases associated with obesity. It was verified that 65.85% of the residents are of the feminine gender, with average age between 21, 92 to 22, 23 years. The vast majority do not receive any cost aid, among those who receive this help comes from the family or a scholarship. You may also notice that the students were between the 3rd and 5th period. The habitual food consumption was characterized by low intake of fruits and vegetables and regular consumption of industrialized and hypercaloric foods. The consumption of milk and fish can be seen that most college students consume only a portion of milk and fish only a few times a year. In relation to the frequency of daily meals, the residents usually perform breakfast, lunch and dinner; snacks in the morning, afternoon and evening were classified as absent or incomplete by the Most of them. Regarding the consumption of alcoholic beverages, the result showed that more than half did not consume both male and female alcoholic beverages.
The data are associated with poor eating habits performed by students since the intake of hypercaloric foods contributes to overweight and CNCDs.
