Tuberculosis (TB) still presents itself as a serious public health problem, showing high levels of incidence and mortality. Due to the transition the population and the increase in life expectancy currently noted the growing incidence of the number of cases of tuberculosis in the elderly. Can also be seen in greater difficulty no diagnosis of tuberculosis in this age group. The objective of this study was to analyze the nurses ' knowledge of the ESF on the attention to the elderly with tuberculosis. An exploratory research with qualitative approach, data was collected through an interview, guided by a semi structured script which was applied to seven nurses working in the APS in the municipalities of Cuité and Picuí-PB, the results were analyzed according to the technique of content analysis-themed mode, with the results were generated five categories arranged in tables. Can be Since the nurses were young, very young and in need of training in the area of TB, most never provided assistance to the elderly patient and had limitations in knowledge when questioned about the diagnosis, treatment and the TDO. How to conduct in the assistance provided to patients with TB still present a vision curativista. Nurses recognize that the factors of the own human aging and treatment adherence would be among the difficulties of controlling TB. Education permanent, creating spaces for community mobilization and the bond with the population could be factors that will collaborate with the diagnosis and control of tuberculosis in the elderly.
