Os impactos da seca do nordeste: uma questão histórica e social na região do Sertão Paraibano e no município de Bonito de Santa Fé – PB.

Abstract

The present work proposes to analyze the drought problem that occurred in the Northeast region in several years, highlighting the drought of 1993/1994 in the city of Bonito de Santa Fe, and also awakening to new discoveries on this theme using oral history as a resource Research. We will investigate the performance of the fronts of emergency work as a proposal for a historical and social study, trying to understand and solve a problem that affects the life of the Northeastern population and especially that of Sertão. There is a need to investigate this problem that harms this region so much suffered, and this subject is the subject of many studies and debates, due to the great social problem that affects the region. This research seeks to contribute with a historical review of how the issue is being treated and also presents a conceptual treatment, seeking to awaken to solutions and evaluating their efficiencies. It was of fundamental importance the bibliographic research and interviews using Oral History. One of the biggest problems that the Northeast region of Brazil had to face since the most remote times was water scarcity, as there were many drought damages in that region. The research also shows that we must promote actions that will reduce the impact of drought, make a good management of water resources and carry out strategies to combat drought, saving natural resources and removing only what we need, without wasting them and without compromising the Needs of future generations. The government should promote public policies for the conservation of natural resources and raise awareness of changes in attitudes.
