INTRODUCTION: Radiodermatitis consists of a cutaneous reaction very well delimited at a point of insertion of the radiation, characterized by a dehydration of the affected area, by a process of dermatology from erythema to deep and infected ulcerations. Since radiodermatitis is a common complication of 95% of oncology patients who undergo radiotherapy, the nurse, within their nursing consultation, is for a patient's counselor and caregiver is not a medical and curative treatment, prescribing care and indicating coverages that Minimize the individual's involvement. PURPOSE: to verify the knowledge and practice of nurses do not care for patients with radiodermites. METHOD: This is an exploratory research with a qualitative approach developed at the Paraiba Foundation (FAP), with five nurses working in the radiotherapy area. The instrument for a script that deals with a semi-structured interview, pertinent to the established objectives. It is worth noting that this research is guided by Resolution No. 466/2012 of the National Health Council (CNS), respecting regulatory guidelines that involve research with human beings. RESULTS AND DATA ANALYSIS: The empirical material, it was possible to construct three categories and three subcategories, the content is the knowledge of nurses on the evaluation and the treatment of patients with radiodermites, a saber: Category 1 - "Defining radiodermites"; Category 2 - "Evaluating the person with radiodermatitis" and Category 3 - "Caring for the person with radiodermatitis", which is subdivided into Subcategory 1 - "Products used for radiodermatitis" and Subcategory 2 - "Guiding the person with radiodermatitis". The results obtained in the research allowed, in a general way, to identify that nurses present gaps without management knowledge and techniques related to the care of patients with radiodermations, as well as do not perform a nursing consultation. CONCLUSION: Therefore, it is concluded that a research institution needs to construct protocols that standardize care expendable to people with radiodermets, investments in continuing education for health professionals, a priori, for nurses and acquisition of inputs, materials and coverage, indispensable criteria for the evaluation of medical and therapeutic methods, without care for people with radiotherapy wounds.
