Resumen:
Hansen’s Disease (also known as leprosy) is known since old times, when not properly treated it can be incapacitating, leaving, sometimes, physical deformities, thus being a public health issue. This study had as general objective summarize the scientific knowledge published in periodic publications, from January 2006 until April 2016, about the actions taken in order to control the Hansen’s Disease by the nurses from Health Family Strategy. This is an integrative review of the published literature, from databases of the Caribbean and Latin-American Literature in Health Science (LILACS) and Nursing Database (BDENF) and the electronic library Scientific Electronic Library (SciELO). The describers utilized were “nursing, primary care, family health” combined with “Hansen’s Disease”, through the boolean operator “AND” to expand possibilities in the research. With the studies’ selection, seventeen (17) articles were selected and included in this work. The database’s reviewed studies were characterized by author, year, published periodic, databases or electronic libraries and type of study made. After complete reading also were extracted thematic categories regarding limitations and possibilities of effective elimination of the Hansen’s disease and the index of actions implemented by the nurses to management of the disease. The studies point that the nursing professional has an essential role in work process of Hansen’s, since sometimes he is responsible for the first assistance of the diseased, also important in listening, valuing complaints and directing actions to the health education of the patient. Some studies show that educative processes are fundamental in health services, because capacitated health workers are capable of offering a more qualified assistance. Faced with these evidences it was observed that in order to obtain success in controlling of Hansen’s Disease a capacitated nursing professional is required, that is also active in these actions to control. Therefore, we recommend the realization of new studies dealing with methodologies to capacitate nursing in the assistance of primary care of the Hansen’s disease.
