Resumo:
Throughout the Quaternary period were recorded occurences of intercalated climatic
alternations between glacial and interglacial stages afact that made some scholars to develop
the theory of Reductions and Forest Refuges, in order to prove such maked evidence by the
paleoecological changes in the evolutionary dynamics of the landscape. The present work
aims to analyze the paleoclimatic evidences in the intertropical zone of the globe from the
studies of the formation of the kettles in the Riacho Olho D‟água in the municipaly of
Nazarezinho in the state of Paraíba, Brazil. As theoretical-methodological supports this
research is responsible for making a bibliographical survey about the proposed theme; as well
as analyzing it in the empirical way through fieldwork with the execution of the photographic
record and elaboration of maps. Specifically in the area of study in was possible to identify
the from the observation of the kettles, the occurrence of a more humid environment with the
perennial and voluminous drainage allowed the overlapping of the dreinage causing the
formation of the water gap, besides the formation of the kettles. For understanding the current
semi-arid landscape, it necessary to understand the various physiognomic currents of the
landscape where through this reading it will be possible to interpret the details of the local
landscape evolution.
