Abstract:
Serra de Santa Catarina is an integral part of the Plateau of Borborema,
considered one of the priority areas for conservation of the Caatinga flora. Aiming
to contribute to the family's taxonomy in middle region of the Wild, this paper is a
survey and characterization of Rubiaceae species found in the Vertente do Olho
D’água do Frade na Serra de Santa Catarina, in the city of Nazarezinho, State of
Paraiba, Brazil. Botanical collections were made during the months of April 2014
to February 2015, which resulted in 11 species [Borreria scabiosoides Cham. &
Schltdl., B. verticillata (L.) G. Mey, Coutarea hexandra (Jacq.) K. Schum.,
Diodella apiculata (Willd. ex Roem. & Schult.) Delprete, Genipa americana L.,
Guettarda sericea Müll. Arg., G. viburnoides Cham. & Schltdl., Oldenlandia tenuis
K. Schum., Randia armata (Sw.) DC., Spermacoce tenuior L., e Tocoyena
formosa (Cham. & Schltdl.) K. Schum.], distributed in 9 genders. It’s presented
identification keys, descriptions, comments, boards with pictures or imagens of
the studied taxa.
