Police Officers are professionals that to do a good service should be able to deal with the tasks that are proposed and the fulfillment of its obligations. The work of the Police Officers is surrounded by situations that can result into stress may result in frames of psychological suffering. This activity falls under the list of most stressful by constant exposure to imminent danger. In this perspective, the study aims to characterize the psychic suffering of the military police officers based on scientific productions. This work treats of a quantitative-qualitative approach of a kind of integrative literature review. The identification of the articles was conducted through an online research on LILACS and MEDLINE databases. Being selected a sample of 13 articles. The analysis of publications was based on two themes: the psychic suffering between the military police officers and labor factors generators of psychic suffering. Thus, the obtained results allowed to evidence that most of the public - target is male, has average age of 24 to 45 years old and belong to a lower level in the hierarchy. Was evidenced a growth in publications about mental health of police officers in the years 2012 and 2014 that concentrated in the southeastern region of Brazil. Still was observed that there are few studies on the subject, since the high demand for labor, overwork, imminent risk of life and routine contact with violence are the main labor factors that may cause some psychic suffering that characterized by symptoms like excessive tiredness, insomnia, anxiety and depression. Therefore, the results reinforce the importance and necessity of the subjective look to this professional, which in most cases have their symptoms of psychic suffering neglected. The creation of strategies that aims the physical well-being, but mostly mental of these professionals in order to improve their quality of life is something that make be necessary.
