Currently, the National Policy for Integral Attention to Human Health presents in its construction a space focused on sexual and reproductive rights and affirms the relevance of human participation in this context. What was once seen as an obligation, from which man tended to escape, is now perceived as a right. Thus, Family Planning through the Unified Health System (SUS) provides the community with guidelines and information on contraceptive methods, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, technical procedures as well as other activities that enable the couple to achieve well- Sexual and reproductive health, in order to ensure the right to decide whether or not to have children and to choose the right moment. The objective was to analyze the understanding of the Cuité men about family planning. It is an exploratory-descriptive research of a transverse nature, with a qualitative approach, carried out through a semi-structured questionnaire, containing objective and subjective questions. The subjects of the study were ten men participating in a Catholic prayer group in the city of Cuité-PB. After the Content Analysis procedure in the thematic modality, it was observed that there is limited knowledge regarding family planning, evidencing the difficulties of men to talk about the topic. It was seen that almost all the interviewees leave the choice of the contraceptive method as a female responsibility, making it clear that they are absent from family planning. Therefore, the strong relationship with the gender issue is highlighted by the influence of a macho culture, in which men do not seek health services. It was found that most of them are in the third age, not using contraceptive methods, since the fear of unwanted pregnancy is no longer a priority, praising the problem of Sexually Transmitted Infections in the elderly public. It was also noticed that the interviewees do not participate in family planning due to lack of time and scarce information on the subject. Some have expressed a willingness to participate and to know more about the subject, but they do not have the encouragement of health professionals. Thus, it is fundamental to recognize that each man is unique and is influenced by many factors such as beliefs, culture and socioeconomic situation. It is believed that the results may contribute to future studies and add subsidies to the organization of services by providing a broader care, through assistance based on the uniqueness of men and their sexual and reproductive choices. As a proposal for the RAS to attract the male audience, it is suggested to implement wheelchairs at affordable hours. This will certainly extrapolate the moment of consultation and will lead to the establishment of the link between men and health professionals, transforming the Unit into a more welcoming and humanized environment.
