Abstract:
In order to evaluate a perforated pipe model to be used for irrigation, tests were conducted at the Hydraulics Laboratory of the Center for Science and Technology of the Federal University of Paraíba, in Campina Grande. The model has variable diameter adaptive nozzles and a jet energy dissipating part. Aiming at its use in the field, the flow rates of the pipes drilled with 10, 15 and 20 mm nozzles were measured when subjected to hydraulic loads of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 m. The results obtained were statistically compared with the empirically determined flow rates through the energy and continuity equations. Flow rates measured in the laboratory ranged from 0.413 to 2.431 1 / s, thus giving the flow rates most commonly used in Irrigation. Non-significant differences between the experimentally and empirically obtained flows were obtained only for the 10 mm nozzles. To highlight the validity of the model from the hydraulic and operational point of view, it is recommended to test it in the field.
