Resumen:
Cancer among women has increased over time, and thus the female population follows with the multiplicity of roles on the contemporary society and also has the mission to face their new condition of life, which is affected not only their social routine and professional, but the main reason, the "being a woman" since the cancer and the treatment of this often cause bodily changes that harm the femininity of the woman. The objective was to know what the feelings of women with the discovery of cancer; evaluate the perception that women have of your body after diagnosis of the disease; pointing out what difficulties they experience in womanhood committed by cancer. The production occurred through a descriptive, exploratory approach with a qualitative approach and thematic oral history. The results were expressed in three themes: 1) With sadness and courage: feelings of women facing the diagnosis of cancer; 2) Recognizing the body after cancer diagnosis; 3) Difficulties faced by women with cancer: overcoming stigmas. It is very important that further research aimed at this issue arise, so that we can better understand the female universe before the fight against cancer and so the professional can evolve towards this reality, as the cases of cancer in Brazil only increase.
