Résumé:
At present, major environmental problems stem from improper disposal of
waste produced by society, whether in domestic daily life or in activities
industrial, agricultural, hospital and leisure. From the beginning man produces waste,
but with the advent of industrialization and urban growth and change
of society dictated by the capitalist mode of production, the volume of waste
production has tripled in recent decades causing environmental problems due to
such materials in improper locations. Within this context, the city of Barro located in the
South Central sector of the state of Ceará is no different from other cities in developing
disposal of solid waste produced by its
population. All waste generated in urban and rural areas is transported to the garbage dump.
where it is disposed of in the open and without any soil preparation to receive it,
This can lead to contamination of surface and groundwater, air pollution and
infestation of animals promoting various diseases. The area chosen for disposal of garbage
in Barro-CE, 742 meters from the Cipó reservoir, which serves as a drinking fountain for
animals and a portion of the needy population use it for fishing.
