Abstract:
The diagnosis and cancer therapy in a child produces feelings of sadness and anxiety in the family especially that which carries the primary care in smaller, since they are modified their social, economic and psychological resulting from the activity of care. In that sense, it highlights the Common Mental Disorders (CMD's) that constitute a psychic morbidity highly prevalent in the present day and that can be characterized by symptoms of depression and anxiety. That said, this study aimed to investigate the occurrence of CMD‟s in caregivers of children undergoing chemotherapy. This is a cross / sectional study with a quantitative approach, operationalized in children Chemotherapy of the Alcides Carneiro Universitary Hospital (ACHU). The sample included the participation of 29 caregivers of children undergoing chemotherapy. The instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire Self Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) through direct interview. Data analysis technique was simple descriptive statistics by building a database in Microsoft Excel being arranged in six charts and five tables. In compliance with Resolution 466/2012, the project was submitted to the Research Ethics Committee (REC). The material collection was initiated only after approval by the ACHU REC, through the opinion No. 1,313,872, from July 2016 to August 2016. The study showed the presence of CMD's in caregivers with an overall prevalence of 93,1% of respondents. Thus, it was realized that some of the factors related to CMD's are amenable to preventive intervention that seek to provide a better quality of life in caregivers. And when it comes to nursing care, it was found that nurses should seek to enter these subjects as a focus in their daily praxis trying to detect evidence of CMD's and mitigate risk factors. Moreover, it is emphasized that the proposed objectives were achieved and it is expected that the results can increase the thematic discussion on canvas, in view of the shortage in the availability of scientific material turned their attention to the caregiver of children who perform chemotherapy.
