Resumo:
The growing concern with the preservation of the environment as well as with the
increasing quality of life in communities has stimulated associations of
farmers to jointly develop with
agroecological agriculture, which is free from pesticides. With that, some
families have been producing so-called "organic" foods, usually grown
in small areas, characterizing family farming as a source of income,
expanding the practice of solidary economy in these communities. This work has
purpose of conducting a family farming analysis,
investigate the socioeconomic profile of the members of the Association of
Agroecological Producers from Monteiro Municipality, West Cariri Region
from Paraíba. The methodology used in this research was quantitative. Were
questionnaires were applied to perform the socioeconomic assessment of farmers
besides informal conversations, in the period of July 2013. The agroecological production studied and obtained through family farming and marketed at the fair
with dealers and wholesalers and in government agencies. The
results for the migration to this type of trade had as its main reason the
low initial investment. Notable is the close relationship of solidarity and
trust between the members of the association. This agriculture is shown to be
fundamental factor for social inclusion.
