Resumen:
The school institution is recognized by mental health policies as a privileged space for
anchored practices in education, particularly prevent the disease and health promotion in. This
work it is an experience report that aims to describe the activities developed in the Extension
Project "Educational Practices in Mental Health in Public Schools Context of Primary
Education", held in schools: Municipal Children's Education and Primary Cecilia Estolano
Meireles and Municipal Elementary School Victoria Bezerra, located in the municipality of
Cajazeiras - PB and is linked to the research project entitled "Public Schools Student
Knowledge of Primary Education on Mental Health," which it was submitted to the Ethics
Committee on Human Research of the Teacher Training Center (VTC) of the Federal
University of Campina Grande (UFCG), Campus Cajazeiras - PB. Participated in this study
213 students aged between 09 and 14, 150 female and 63 male. 12 meetings were held with
all classes of elementary school II, totaling 10 classes during the period between August and
December 2014. The activities with students occurred in the schools themselves, through
workshops, through which were debated the following topics: Mental Health, Bullying,
Prejudice, teenage pregnancy. In carrying out the workshops were used conversation circles,
dynamic awareness and reflection, parody and video presentation. After the achievements of
workshops in two schools found that there was an effective participation in workshops and
developed a satisfactory learning by students regarding the topics covered. Another
significant result of this work was the development of an educational booklet with mental
health issues, entitled "Educational Practices in Mental Health in the Context of Public
Schools: Mental Health a universal right." The screen project presented academic and social
relevance. In addition, it favored the formation of more enlightened citizens on mental health
and sought to disseminate sound practices from the change in behavior.
