Abstract

Learning Science is learning a way of thinking that should contribute to broaden our ability to have a critical view of the reality we live (ARRUDA, et. al.2006). In this sense the teaching of Natural Sciences in Field Education arises from the perspective of the interdisciplinarity of knowledge, popular and scientific, that deal with the themes of rural life and facilitate the expansion and dynamism of pedagogical activities, contributing to the praxis of the contents of the Nature Sciences. The Teaching of Science in Field Education is a recent theme and little is known about what has been produced in this area in recent decades. Therefore, we sought to know the practices and methods of teaching Natural Sciences (chemistry) in the final years of Elementary School in rural schools in the Municipality of Sumé - PB. The methodology used to conduct the research was structured as the qualitative approach, ethnographic method, type of sources: bibliography and field research, data collection technique through questionnaires and semi-structured interview, comparative analysis technique and the subjects and spaces involved in the research process. Data collection was carried out with science teachers and students of the 9th grade of these schools, José Bonifácio Barbosa de Andrade Municipal Primary and Secondary Education Unit, located in the district of Pio X, and Deputy Evaldo Gonçalves de Queiroz Agrotechnical School, both in the Municipality of Sumé. . The research verified the relationship between science education and students' daily life, as well as this relationship could contribute to the performance of the student in the school and the communities in which they are located; as for teachers, the study sought to identify educational and methodological practices for the teaching of science (chemistry) in the rural schools and their interactions with students' daily life. Thus, we point out that science education favors the demystification of traditional teaching and incorporates an education emphasizing the reality and the problematization of the subjects of the field.
