Resumo:
The Zika virus is an exanthematic disease, which had a great impact in Brazil, mainly in
Northeast. Becoming a serious problem of public health because exist an association with the
increased incidence of microcephaly in newborns to mothers infected by the virus, as well as
others neurological and development problems in children. It is aimed to investigate the
comprehension of the nurses of basic attention in the city of Cajazeiras-PB about the zika
virus in the pregnancy. This is a field study in the model descriptive, exploratory with a
qualitative approach, which was performed with 21 nurses of Family Health Strategy in the
municipality of Cajazeiras- PB. It was used for the data collection a semi-structured interview,
the data were analyzed through the analysis of content proposed by Bardin. The nurses
majority interviewed was female, aged between 20-39 years, in relation to the operation time
in the Basic Attention the average was in media six to ten years. The results of this study
point that the nurses comprehension about zika virus consists of be a little-known infection
because is a disease with recent studies emphasizing the lack of knowledge about the virus, in
addition also of cerebral impairment in newborn, one of the main consequences of the virus;
also according to the actions that the nurse would develop on suspicion or confirmation of the
virus infection in pregnant the referral to prenatal of high risk and the realization of imaging
examinations being essential to the care of pregnant, proving the need of realization prenatal
consultations in the diagnosis clarification. It was evident that the majority of women in the
community expressed bad feelings about the pregnancy, because the virus brings several
consequences both to mother and to the fetus, and it was highlighted the importance and need
of health education actions in the community with the purpose to disseminate informations
about the control and prevention of zika virus infection in the whole community and pregnant
women. It is concluded that the nurses comprehension about the zika virus infection in the
gestation is still incipient considering that is a new event and that is still being researched, in
which is necessary understand the importance of health education related to the zika virus in
the pregnancy, because it is that way that the professional can comprehend and attend the
demand of his population.
