The attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a mental disorder that begins in
childhood and persists into adulthood, leading to losses in the family friendly atmosphere, the
social environment besides reaching school performance. In this context, parents are shown as
the main caregivers, helping their children overcome problems and to include them in the
society. Thus, this research aims to analyze the care of parents to children and adolescents
with ADHD, describing the vision of these to the care of their children, analyzing the limits
and challenges experienced in this relationship, but also verify which health care network is
triggered. Qualitative research, descriptive, exploratory, with eight mothers residing in the
municipality of Cajazeiras-PB. Data were collected at the residence of each participant
through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the Collective Subject Discourse
(CSD), Lefèvre and Lefèfre method.Regarding the ADHD parents demonstrated behavioral
vision, biological vision, stigmatizing vision and labeling. Through this study, it was
identified the degree of stress and overload with patient care due to the ignorance of the
disorder, this observation demonstrated the deficiency in parents trigger the appropriate health
network. In health networks, primary care and specialist services were present, on which the
Family Health Strategy was the most present and on the main limitations and challenges,
parents pointed impulse control and prejudice.The ethical principles of Resolution No.
466/2012 for research involving human subjects were followed. The results were grouped into
four categories for analysis: knowledge about ADHD by parents; feelings related to ADHD;
care and health networks triggered for attention to ADHD; and limits and challenges in care
for ADHD. Through this present study I obtained the degree of knowledge about ADHD for
parents. This study aims to enrich the literature, collaborate with families, professionals and
researchers in all areas, in order to describe the urgency in working with mental health
population.
