Human hair is one body image component that has an indisputable value, which leads the cosmetics industry to follow the changes directed by psychosocial changes, economic and cultural, reflecting the physical characteristics of a person, causing many hair products arise. Fasteners gels are part of 57.5% (by value) of products for hair modeling, being associated with forming polymer films on the capillary end. For this function, the Stylise w-20® (polyquaternium-55), a cationic terpolymer promotes molding fixation with water resistance; and Carbopol, a polymer widely used in formulations as a thickener and gel forming agent. The launch of new cosmetic products involves developing formulas where steps as the choice of raw materials, preparation technique, stability study and evaluation of the effectiveness are essential to offer the consumer a quality product. To this end, the present work was to study the stability and evaluate the potential for hair gels modeling containing polyquaternium-55. The reference product (gel-cream shaper Bozzano fixing 2®), the driver 22 and the placebo were subjected to preliminary study conditions of stability (EP), accelerated (EA) and long term (ELD), and evaluated the organoleptic properties, microscopic and physicochemical (centrifugal, viscosity, spreadability, pH, hair fixing and water resistance). It was found that all samples showed organoleptic and microscopic properties suitable. The physicochemical analysis differences were identified between the formulations with variations in pH, viscosity, spreadability, hair fixation and water resistance, not characterizing instability. Gels containing polyquaternium-55 proved their stability demonstrating their hair fixing ability, but was also detected non water resistance suggesting the encapsulation of the polyquaternium-55 and / or the use of a blend containing polyquaternium-55, film-forming agent and water-resistance agent.
