Análise sobre o trabalho e riscos à saúde dos catadores de resíduos sólidos do município de Pombal - PB.

Abstract

The work that follows is result of a study that had how finally to analyze the situation of vulnerable of the solid wastes’ collectors of the city Pombal – PB and present the interfaces that they have with the work, the health and the environment. Nowadays, one the most serious problem faced by society is the waste. This problem relates directly with the population’s growth constant, demanding more production of the food and the industrialization of raw material, turning them in industrialized products, contributing, this way, to the increase of the solid wastes, with disastrous consequences to the environment and to the quality of life, mainly of workers that deal with these solid products every day. The accomplished research is of exploratory nature with quantitative-qualitative approaches and inductive method, based in field research, whose universe was constituted by the solid wastes’ collectors active in city of Pombal – PB. To the methodology, after the theoretical base, was realized non- participating observation, at another time, data were collected through the forms with 24 associated workers to the Association of Collectors of the city of Pombal – PB. The data collection occurred in months from May to July in 2014. It was noticed that these agents, besides contributing to the cleaning of our society, face constantly danger and risks in the sphere of the solid products, among other factors that bring these collaborators to constant risks in their working environment. Bearing in mind the main injuries as a result theses work accidents are: cuts, injuries, falls, constant exposure to all the risks. Therefore, to reduce the several risks which the collectors of recycled material are exposed is necessary the use of IPE and the implantation of the education campaigns directed to society, to they achieve the selective collection.
