Resumo:
Education in prisons is fundamental for the transformation of the individual, who is excluded from society, an education that can cause a change of thought and behavior of the inmate, making him a critical subject in society. The Chemistry Teaching in EJA should be worked in a contextualized way, where students can relate the contents of chemistry worked in class with the environment where it is inserted. Self-medication is a theme that should be addressed in every environment, as it is a theme that causes risk to human health. For a process of awareness, clarification and reduction of the excessive consumption of medicines to occur, it is necessary to work in schools as transversal themes.
The research was developed in the prison systems of Cajazeiras-PB and São João do Rio do Peixe-PB, with the participation of 16 students of Youth and Adult Education, in order to raise awareness and characterize the conceptions of reeducandos about self-medication, to that scientific thinking be developed while relating to chemical compositions against adverse drug indications and reactions. Research is qualitative and quantitative and action research. Through data collected in the Cajazeiras Standard Prison-PB, 43% of students were unaware of the meaning of the term.

Rio do Peixe-PB, where 56% said they knew the meaning of the act of self-medication. It was possible to verify that the subject was assimilated by the reeducandos of the two Prison Systems,
making students reflect on the habit of uncontrolled drug consumption showing the risks and harm that self-medication can cause human health.
