Abstract:
The social seclusion of humans for crimes committed shown growing in the world and in Brazil, this part of society is falling by the wayside of society and the state, there are several problems that this portion is affected, among them health related to factors structural, lack of hygiene, poor diet and drug use. The Nutritional Assessment is an excellent indicator of quality of life, it is a diagnostic tool that measures in different ways the nutritional status of the organism. The objective of this research was to evaluate and map out the nutritional profile of inmates confined in the public prison in the city of Cuité-PB. This is a cross-sectional descriptive field research conducted with detainees who were available, providing a sample of 16 inmates. Through personal questionnaire on nutrition issues were addressed on confinement time, the food we usually bring visitors, medication use, and socio-cultural aspects. From the results of this study allowed to identify the population is in most nutritional status of overweight (43,75%), representing most of low risk for developing cardiovascular disease (81,25%) and a significant number risk for the development of obesity-related SM (31,75%). When correlated the confinement time and BMI, it noted that there was an increase in weight in some inmates over the years. All had a sedentary lifestyle, as the semiotics held little evidenced unless, possible anemia, but are necessary biochemical tests for their diagnosis, and dehydration. We also observed the prevalence of psychotropic users, which bought the existence of people with mental and psychological disorders, and the use of antihypertensive drugs, which reveals the presence of hypertension. Thus, it is necessary nutritional monitoring performed by a professional nutritionist, aimed at weight control, prevention and/or treatment of cardiovascular complications and, consequently, to ensure better quality of life for this population, through the adoption of healthy living habits.
