In view of the contemporary nourishment scenery, one of the major challenges for the nutritionist is to create methodologies that are able to provide improvements on people’s feeding habits and , consequently, on their life quality. In this context, there is still the predominance of the most traditional methods which have features that transmit knowledge, in a really fragmented way, without encouraging the reflective and critical thinking of the participants. The habit of watching movies brings several features that are attractive to the public, including the awakening of imagery and fantasy, which instigate thinking and, consequently, make us attentive and interested on them. Taking advantage of this huge potential of the cinema, that includes a wide variety of films and documentaries with direct and indirect topics related to nutrition and food, why not using it to discuss issues that are related to everything involving the act of eating ? Thus, this study aimed at understanding the perception of individuals on issues related to nourishment from film screenings. In order to accomplish that, a cross-sectional and descriptive research was performed, including field data collection and the use of a qualitative approach. It is noteworthy that such research is the result of a larger project called Cinecidadania and it was carried out during three film screenings in it. Data collection was divided into two subsequent moments to the films display: in the first moment the data was collected from the debate performed during the projection of the films; and the second moment consisted of an interview, through an applicable questionnaire with open and closed questions. The data analysis followed a descriptive structure. They seemed interested and critical during the discussions, showing in their speeches some aspects related to food such as its rationalization, its senses, the pleasure felt because of it, among others. Therefore, the methodology of debating (cinedebate) used in the aforementioned project proved effective in generating discussion and reflection. As a result, it is possible to see the importance of creating and incorporating methodologies that seek working with nourishment active methodologies that awaken the critical sense and a notion enchaced make and if with food quality.
