The induced cristalization study of high density homopolymer and
copolymer polyethylene was carried out by using a nucleating agent based on
1,2-ciclohexene dicarboxilic acid and calcium salt (1:1), (1R, 2S), CAS number
491589-22-1. The polymers chosen are used in stiff packages, processed by
blow molding and the ultimate objective of this study is to reduce the production
cycle but keeping the necessary product properties. The results showed that the
addition of up to 0,15% of this nucleating agent to the homopolymer and up to
0,10% to the copolymer rised up the polymer crystalline fraction, improving
slightly the copolymer mechanical properties but affecting the homopolymer
stress cracking resistance performance. The bottles produced with higher
nucleator levels, showed better contraction and transparency.
