Résumé:
The need to implement sustainable productive activities in agrarian reform settlement areas in
the city of Cajazeiras - PB is present in order to provide for the families settled, the possibility
to generate income and thus contribute to the maintenance of local flora. In this context, this
research developed from the characterization of the challenges involving the agrarian space of
this district, which investigated the spatial organization and the development of sustainable
productive activities in the areas of existing settlements, specifically, the PA Santo Antônio
settlements, PA Frei Damião I and PA Frei Beda, working with beekeeping. Thus, the
development of beekeeping in these communities, presents itself as an excellent source of
income and also as a sustainable productive activity, causing minor impacts nature, unlike, the
livestock development and traditional agriculture, this made From the handling with manual
practices. This study aimed to: analyze the implementation of sustainable production systems,
such as beekeeping, which stands as alternative for achieving economic independence, by
peasants of cajazeirense agrarian space; describe the production scenarios in this municipality;
characterize the potential and map the settlements, working with beekeeping; present the
achievements and the dilemmas, but also promote a reflection on the organization of
production space and the progress of beekeeping in these settlement areas. It was used as a
guiding principle the historical and dialectical materialism and how methodological
procedures, the literature review, to better understand the objectives of this study and on-site
field studies, with photographic records and informal conversations, which were removed the
information of this research. It has been shown through the study developed, there is no
concern to promote the development of settlement areas in the city of Cajazeiras - PB, with
regard to the expansion of sustainable beekeeping, due to the majority of farmers consist of
elderly, the lack of coordination between the settlements and also the lack of projects
developed by local authorities. Therefore, it is not harnessed the productive potential of this
region.
