Abstract:
The use of drugs constitutes a historically old phenomenon and represents a
serious public health problem in our country, resulting in several social consequences to
the future of the teenager. Currently, one of the major concerns of society with regard to
children and adolescents, it is essential that there is greater concern family, social and
educational about the possibility of involvement of these with the world of drugs and all
the consequences that they cause. The methodology used for the study on screen was
performed with the application of a questionnaire to investigate the possible uses of licit
and illicit substances considered by the population of a school in the city of Cajazeiras,
high backlands of Paraiba, and subsequently the promotion educational lectures that
address the issue and guide the teens. The results were analyzed using Microsoft Excel
and followed recommended standards for scientific research. It was found that 61% of
respondents have already used alcohol and 51% of these students made use of daily
alcohol, where the amount of male adolescents corresponds to 34%, and teen female,
(66%), who are or have been use of alcoholic beverages. We also find that the form of
access to alcohol, (64%) had contact by a friend had offered, (3%) admitted to having
asked a friend to purchase, (21%) bought in bars at its option and 12% ingested these
drinks in their own homes. On the attendance of students, and school absence for
drinking alcohol, only 5% left to attend class. The form of access to alcohol can happen
inside the residence of respondents (12%). Also (64%) of respondents had contact with
the alcoholic beverage by the offer made by a friend, (3%) requested the purchase by
another individual, probably by restricting sales to minors, and 21% made the purchase
of drinks alcoholic. It was concluded that 52% of students who drank alcohol felt happy
to make use of such drinks. The use of these drugs out of curiosity led (71%) of young
people to seek to use other drugs, and (29%) was influenced by friends. Respondents
reported knowing several drugs, and the most cited were: launches perfume (18%),
cocaine (28% ¨), marijuana (28%), LSD (10%), ecstasy (16%) and heroin, valued
insignificant in the study. The beverage most consumed by these adolescents were:
beer, vodka, whiskey, rum, montilla, tequila, champagne, martini and wine with (40%),
(7%), (14%), (9%), (7% ), (7%), (6%), (7%) and (3%), respectively. Finally, when
asked about the participation of Brazilian schools in education about the use of alcohol
and drugs, (54%) responded that there is a satisfactory orientation, but a large
percentage also reported needing more information. We conclude that, with this
research we were able to sense when it comes to drug use by young people in the city of
Cajazeiras and can thus carry out strategies for the promotion to educate young people
about the issue.
