Resumo:
Quality of Life at Work (QWL) is a topic that has been gaining importance within modern organizations and public institutions, especially since the 1990s. The objective of this study is to analyze the quality of life perceived by public servants of the Campus Patos of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba (IFPB), aiming to describe the meaning of QWL by the researched public and to support the proposition of actions and improvements. This research is characterized as a case study of quali-quantitative, exploratory and descriptive nature. A questionnaire adapted from the BPSO-96 Biopsychosocial and Organizational Model from Limongi-França is applied, consisting of ten items of socio- functional aspects of characterization of the interviewed subjects (Gender, Age, Job Level, Hierarchical Level, Salary Range, Schooling, Number of Dependents, Length of Service, Bonus Function and Union Membership). Three managers who make up the top management of Campus Patos are interviewed, aiming to find converging and divergent points of their QWL view in relation to the TA's view. The research finds more commonalities, assuming an alignment of expectation and action, but the divergent points were quite complex because they involve the decision-making process and organizational climate management. The results of the questionnaires indicate that in relation to the organizational dimension, the subjects had higher rates of QWL, being the lowest in relation to the biological dimension. However, the general evaluation of all indicators of the psychosocial approach points to a regular level, indicating the need for advances in the area, as well as a more effective institutional policy. The study contribues to the understanding of the QWL dynamics of IFPB's TA’s and may support decisions of the management of the Campus Patos regarding the performance of the People Management area and the commitment and integration of employees in the development of their work.
