Resumo:
Humanization in prenatal and puerperal care consists in adopting measures that include
broadening access coverage and improving the quality of maternal and child care, with the use
of conduits considered beneficial, in order to prevent complications, developing an integral,
humanized and qualified assistance, respecting the dignity and autonomy of women. The
general objective of the study was to determine if the assistance received during the prenatal
and puerperal care took place in a humanized way. This is an exploratory, descriptive study
with a qualitative approach, developed with 11 women in the postpartum period, living in the
area covered by the Primary Health Care Post that had their pregnancy interrupted due to the
birth between the months from March to August 2017. The data collection was done by
means of a recorded interview guided by a semi-structured questionnaire. The data of the
objective questions were analyzed through descriptive statistics, and those of the subjective
data analyzed in the perspective of the method of Laurence Bardin, being later confronted
with the pertinent literature. This research complied with all determinations Resolution No.
466/12, assuring participants the preservation of the data collected. It was verified that the
majority of the participants are in the age group of 20 to 36 years of age, in a stable union,
self-declared brown, with complete secondary education, residents with two more people,
family income between one and two minimum wages, of 1.6 live children, assisted by the
public network, and the nurse is the most present professional. Three categories were
extracted: Prenatal and puerperium care; Family Health Strategy team: action in the
humanized care; and Qualities and impediments in performing prenatal and puerperal care.
Therefore, satisfaction was verified in prenatal care, characterizing it as quality and
humanized, where it falls within the recommendations of the Prenatal and Birth Humanization
Program. However, in the care of the puerperium, a gap is still evident for the integral care,
since emphasis is placed on the evaluation of the newborn.
