Resumo:
Currently respiratory diseases have a high prevalence in Brazil and the
world, with asthma and COPD responsible for much of this high rate. These
diseases can be prevented and treated, but the lack of knowledge and
inadequate treatment collaborate to increase the number of uncontrolled cases.
One of the mainstays of treatment is the use of medicines through inhalers (DI)
which can be accessed through the Center for Exceptional Drug maintained by
the 4th Regional Health Management in the municipality of Cuité-PB. Studies
have shown that most patients who use DI have no good inhalation technique
and that this may be related to the fact that they have not been targeted or
improperly oriented because of their learning conditions such as low education
and income. Thus, this study was developed to evaluate the management and
understanding of patients on the use of DI distributed monthly in Cuité-PB. A
group of 28 DI users diagnosed with asthma and COPD was evaluated properly
registered in Cedemex through an observational, cross-sectional and
evaluative-descriptive. About 92% of respondents have committed at least one
error in the handling of DI, even after all claiming to know the right technique.
For users of Aerocaps®, the lowest rates of correct responses occurred in steps
"conduct proper expiration" (36.3%) and "perform inspiratory pause" (27.2%). In
the group of volunteers that use the Respimat®, the lowest rates of correct
responses occurred in steps of "conduct proper Inspiration" (16.6%), "Inhale
slowly and press the inhaler" (33.3%), "continue inhaling slowly and deeply
"(33.3%) and" perform inspiratory pause "(16.6%). In 57.1% of cases the patient
was instructed by the doctor, but only 21.4% of them saw the patient using the
drug. In addition, the study showed that 57.1% of respondents had only the
elementary school and 78.5% were over 65 years. These are variables that can
directly influence the difficulty of learning about the inhalation technique. Given
the above, there is a need for a professional to carry out educational activities
and continuous guidance in Cedemex, aiming to reduce errors in the handling
of DI and ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medicines.
