The practice of using elements of nature with the purpose of assist man kind is quite old. With time the use of several plants for the contribution in health improvement has become more popular in the world. In this way, the world scientific community has been working in order to evidence the popular use of medicinal plants, therefore contributing to its safe use and discovery of new drugs.The Malvaceae family consists of 243 genera and 4225 species, many of which are widely used in therapy, such as emollients, anti-febrile, diuretics, anti-inflammatories, in the treatment of rheumatism, among other applications. Aiming to contribute to the chemotaxonomic and pharmacological profile of the Malvaceae family, this study investigated the chemical composition of the hexane phase and evaluated the antifungal potential of crude ethanolic extract and Sida santaremnensis phase, Malvaceae specie, present in the Northeastern flora, which could disappear without ever have been explored scientifically. To this end, the hexane phase was subjected to successive column chromatography, this procedure resulted in the isolation of a steroidal saponins mixture, identified as sitosterol 3-O--D-glucopyranoside and stigmasterol 3-O--D-glucopyranoside, first reported in the studied species. In the antifungal activity test the inhibitory highest concentration tested was not able to inhibit the growth of any of the analyzed strains of Candida albicans.
