Resumen:
With the great development that has taken place in the food industry is necessary
legislation to regulate the industry in quality levels, safety and labeling. However,
compliance with these laws most of the time has not been observed. Nutrition
labeling of food diets, lights, gluten and lactose, allows the consumer access to
nutritional information and parameters indicative of quality and safety of their
consumption. As a result, this work is a survey of the availability of these products in
the city of Petrolina / PE for medium and large supermarkets. The conformity of the
labeling of such food products across the Brazilian legislation was verified by
analyzing the quantitative data of compliance and non-compliance of food labels with
the information collected. We analyzed 19 different categories of food products with
the aid of a camera, the data were analyzed by software and Microsoft Excel to
obtain the percentages. Of the 58 labels evaluated four categories showed noncompliance,
between them: the list of ingredients 6.89%; preparation mode 84.49 %;
lactose 84.48 % and especially allergic 63.8 %. However most of the food product
categories analyzed presented a high rate of labels within the compliance front
labeling the Brazilian legislation. This shows that the food industry has been
concerned about spending truthful information to consumers, as well as comply with
what it says legislation. Given the above, it is concluded that the supermarkets in the
city of Petrolina / PE are prepared to meet the needs of consumers, as we still need a
little more attention from the food industry, which is being made available on the
market that can serve different types of consumers.
