Resumo:
The Brazilian semiarid region has only 3% of all the freshwater in the country. For this reason the monitoring of the quality of these waters is of great value. The source Olho D' água of Bica is part of a complex of fountains in the city of Cuité, Paraíba and is used as a source of water for the population. The aim of this study was to present and demonstrate the relevance of the statistical analysis in the water this garden. Samples were collected in August and Setember 2016 in five sampling points from the spring. The physicochemical parameters analyzed were water temperature, pH, hardness, total solids, organic matter and salinity. The study of variance showed significantly different means (p <0.05) for the variables investigated, except for the temperature. The physico-chemical analysis expressed low levels of total solids and organic matter which indicated low input of nutrients in sample points. The water had temperatures around 26 ° C, acid pH, high concentration of calcium and magnesium cations and high salinity, which is characteristic of the region rich in limestone and dolomite. This study emphasized the importance of statistics and its application, expanding knowledge about the Olho d’água of Bica, besides the need for environmental awareness and preservation of this water source in order to ensure their quality.
