Resumen:
The main objective of this work is to analyze the benefits that the Cisternas de Placas Program provides to the rural population of the municipality of Amparo in Paraíba. The present research aims to contribute to the studies around the theoretical reflections that are part of the discussion and that permeates the development of the research cited above falls on the issues of the paradigmatic transitions in the semiarid, which allows to put in debate the actions and public policies developed and in a specific way in the Western Cariri region, with the objective of finding viable solutions to combat drought, and also in a very punctual way to understand if the actions that have been developed in the last decades allow the resident families in the rural area, in fact, it coexists with the climate and the long periods of the semi-arid drought. Methodologically, this study presents characteristics of a bibliographic nature, and can be classified as descriptive-exploratory research with a qualitative nature. As a result, it has been observed that plaque cisterns have in fact presented themselves with a social technolo- gy, which is feasible for the families to live with the semi-arid, since they group several advantages that give them positive characteristics, such as low cost, ease of dissemination of technology among the most popular population groups, with common characteristics of being less literate or non-literate, and the possibility of being articulated as a tool inserted in the rural environment, capable of promoting the re-education of these the necessary care for the preservation of the quality of the water abstracted.
