Resumen:
The work referent aimed to deepen knowledge about the mechanisms of action of alkaloid DMT present in the wine Black Jurema and Ayahuasca tea in the central nervous system. It was then performed an extensive literature review on databases using indexers as serotonin 5-HT receptors, neurotransmitters, psychedelic, black jurema, ayahuasca tea, in English, Spanish and Portuguese. In Brazilian culture the use of plants that promote hallucinogenic effects is widely used in rituals and cults of certain religions. Among these plants are black jurema and the species that make up the Ayahuasca tea, both presenting the DMT alkaloid responsible for the hallucinogenic effect from the interaction with serotonergic receptors in the central nervous system. The literature states that the hallucinogenic effect from these drinks, interfere in mental functions, providing dimensional modifications, acoustic and optical illusions, changes in mood and euphoria, depression, anxiety, distortion in the perception of time and space as well as depersonalization, mydriasis and hyperthermia. Scientific studies regarding jurema wine are very scarce compared to ayahuasca tea, taking into account this aspect, the work incorporates the two drinks so that tries to clarify how is the alkaloid mechanism of action of DMT present in both drinks in the CNS, as well as cultural aspects, the beneficial and harmful characteristics and the rules applied to the use of these substances. The importance of this deepening is the fact that there is free access to these substances, as the understanding of non-dependence on these substances.
