Resumo:
An injury of great magnitude and transcendence in Brazil, trauma from external causes has
had a strong impact on the morbidity and mortality of the population. The objective of this
study was to evaluate the urgency and emergency care of a trauma patient in a small city that
does not have a Mobile Attendance Service Unit (SAMU). A research was carried out along
the lines of a field study with a descriptive character and a quantitative approach. The
research was carried out in the city of Santa Helena, state of Paraíba (PB), together with the
SAMU Service Bases of the cities of São João do Rio do Peixe - PB and Triunfo - PB, where
the medical records of the city of Santa Helena during the period from january 1 to december
31, 2016. In this study, data collection was done through a semistructured survey script,
containing data that quantified trauma care as well as the emergency and emergency care
profile In the study site. The results observed were: 119 total visits during the analyzed year,
of which 40 were assigned to traumas of various types, such as traffic accidents, work
accidents, falls, etc. Accompanying mostly male people with less than 40 years. Most of the
visits were sent to the HRC, with only two occurrences of death at the site, most frequently
during the months of october and november. Based on the results, it can be concluded that
there is a need for efficient preventive measures for the population of Santa Helena - PB,
measures that provide behavior change in the community and compliance with existing laws,
serving as a tool to reduce the rates of morbimortality, generating a better expectation and
quality of life for the population besides a service of quality and effective for the demand.
