Hanseníase ocular: uma revisão integrativa.

Abstract

Introduction: Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease already known even before the Crusades and today becomes a public health problem, especially in countries like Brazil, which every year brings new cases of the disease, although the incidence is decreasing due to chemotherapy treatment. The bacillus of Hansen can trigger damage to ocular region, compromising vision, and have already done with the skin and is therefore responsible for social exclusion of the patient, and prevent your self-care more adequately for your situation. Objectives: Develop a literature review about ocular leprosy seeking to expand the knowledge about the subject, in view of the marginalized character in which is this group. Methods: It is an integrative review of the literature study conducted in 2015 with the data base Bireme, Scielo, Medline, Pubmed and Lilac, with publications ranging from 2004 to 2015 focusing on several national and international environments and targeting the focus of the study ocular leprosy. Results: We selected 10 articles that have proved capable of being used in this study and generating a comparison of articles in thier authors, year of publication, title, database, location, goals and conclusion. Conclusion: The study evaluated the need for changes in the form of treatment, diagnosis and monitoring of ocular leprosy, leading to the need for more effective and direct action ophthalmologist in monitoring patients and modifications so that the patient does not lose its bond and stick to treatment, furthermore the presence of specialized centers for reference that patient at higher risk areas is needed because many are the grievances that have to be surgically corrected. The study also showed that tests should be added the action to combat leprosy as a biopsy of the conjunctiva, which allows the monitoring of treatment and evaluate the cure or not the case after the end of treatment.
