Résumé:
Irregular disposal of solid waste is a major problem of modern society. Many Brazilian cities deposit solid waste near rivers, lakes or wooded areas. Under these conditions the waste causes socio-environmental problems. Thus, this monograph seeks to make an analysis of the final destination of solid waste produced in the urban area and rural area of the municipality of Santa Helena-PB. The aim was to show the challenges regarding waste treatment policies, the collection system and the destination of waste in this municipality. A series of surveys and data surveys were carried out regarding the solid waste deposit in the municipality of Santa Helena-PB. Data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) were considered and a cartographic survey was carried out. Lastly, it is a viable solution for those residues that are produced in the urban space and in the rural environment.
