Resumen:
In this work is proposed an analysis methodology applied to the evaluation of the
electrical energy losses in water supply systems. In the study is shown the necessity of the
electric energy consumption in the potable water supply in the urban areas. For this, a
bibliographical research was performed, and collected information’s was used in the
methodology development, magnetic flowmeter maintenance plans and illegal water piping
withdrawal. These actions had minimized the apparent water losses and had increased the
system efficiency. Also, it was analyzed the outflow and water volume data in a brazilian city
called Caruaru – PE, and based on the data supplied by the State of Pernambuco Water and
Sanitation Company (COMPESA), was performed the hydric balance, indicating the water
wastefulness (physical loss) and the equivalent electric energy loss. And, in this work are
demonstrated with real information that the reduction of the water losses, makes possible the
reduction of the electric energy consumption.
