Resumo:
In this work, the influence of 230 kV and 500 kV Coupling Capacitor Voltage Transformers (CCVT) and anti-aliasing filters on a two-terminal synchronized travelling wave-based fault location algorithm is analyzed, when only voltage measurements are available. Several fault scenarios were simulated using the Alternative Transients Program (ATP). In each case, the fault location was estimated using two-terminal synchronized voltage samples taken from the primary, secondary and filtered secondary terminals of the modeled CCVT. To provide a more thorough study, three different transient detection methods available in the literature were used to implement the analyzed fault location method. The obtained results indicate that the estimated fault locations are directly affected by the CCVT and CCVT+anti-aliasing filter frequency responses, resulting in a better performance of the fault location algorithm when the secondary voltage high frequency components are amplified.
