Résumé:
Due to environmental factors, such as inadequate feeding and sedentary lifestyle, the number
of individuals affected with CNCD is increasing, especially involving DM and SAH, occurring
not only in adults, but also in children. Thus, it is necessary the effectiveness of health education
actions in Primary Care, being the Community Health Agent a component of the FHS, which
represents an important liaison group between FHS and the community and allows a greater
comprehensiveness of these actions to order to promote health and prevent disease. Therefore,
the objective of the study is to analyze the perception of CHA about the determinants of DM
and SAH in children. As a methodology, it is a descriptive cross-sectional study, using as an
object of study ACS in the urban area of the Municipality of Cuité/PB, and the data collection
through a structured interview. It was observed in the present research, regarding the profile of
the ACS, that the majority of the interviewees were women, had children, with high school and
with participation in church/religious community; already in relation to the characteristics and
working conditions, the majority worked in the profession for more than 15 years, lived in the
microarea of activity, had already received some type of training, feel able to carry out health
education actions, believe that the resistance of the population is one of the major factors that
makes it difficult to carry out health education actions and believe that the profession is not
valued; with regard to the perception of SAH and DM, it was possible to observe that when
compared with the reference literature, there were CHA that approached more than the
definitions, determinants and complications of these diseases, while others were more
superficial and generalist in relation to these questions, approaching a knowledge closer to
popular knowledge; few cited factors specifically aimed at the children’s public, demonstrating
insecurity to answer the questions. In view of this, note the need for effective and continuous
training strategies, as well as the valuation of these professionals, since it reflects in their
performance.
