The importance of the consumption of essential fatty acids food sources has been widely diffused given the importance of these nutrients in formation and brain maturation during the critical development period. The present study had as objective to evaluate the behavior of the supplemented rats with avocado pulps and oil during the gestation and lactation period. The parameters of anxiety were measured through the open field tests, where it was analyzed: ambulation, rearing and grooming. The raised labyrinth cross which was observerd time of permanence in open and closed arms, and in central area, also the number of entrances and diving head was observed. And finally, the dark light box test, which verified the permanecy time in light and dark compartments, number of peek behaviors and number of transitions between compartments. Considering the analyzed data, it was observed that supplemented animals with avocado oil and pulp had an anxiogenic effect. Therefore, maternal consumption of both avocado oil and pulp tends to induce anxiogenic effects both in short and long term, so this supplementation tends to increase the anxiety in rats offspring treated during pregnancy and lactation.
