Resumo:
Dengue has become one of the leading infectious diseases worldwide and especially in Brazil.
Thus, it has an increased clinical significance in the health area, being now considered a
global epidemic and registered in more than 120 countries. The main vector (Aedes aegypti)
in the transmission of this disease is also responsible for transmitting the virus, zika and
chickungunya fever. The Dengue virus belongs to the group of arboviruses, referring to the
family Flaviviridae. Dengue has a broad clinical spectrum, with the difficulty of being
accurately diagnosed in the face of other viral and exanthematic infections. Clinical
manifestations can range from an asymptomatic infection to cases with greater complications,
which may evolve, beginning with the presence of alarm signals, hemorrhagic conditions,
shock, severe organ dysfunctions and death. Therefore, a precise clinical and laboratory
diagnosis must be made so that due care can be taken, reducing and / or avoiding possible
medical conditions. The objective of this research is to investigate specific antibodies for
dengue in individuals with clinical suspicion for Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya at the
Campus of the UFCG in the city of Cajazeiras - PB, identifying if the investigated cases are
actually dengue. It is a study with quantitative characteristics, of a cross-sectional and
descriptive character. Samples were analyzed using indirect ELISA Kits. Twenty one
serological samples from individuals presenting symptoms for the above mentioned diseases
were analyzed. Nineteen samples (90.47%) had positive and two (9.53%) negative results for
the presence of IgM class antibodies. Concerning antibodies of the IgG class, 7 samples
(33.34%) had positive results and 14 (66.66%) negative, demonstrating then, positivity for
most cases. This research was of great value, as it provided benefits in terms of quantification
and / or confirmation of Dengue cases at the research site, thus highlighting the need for
precise care in the control of this vector.
