Resumo:
INTRODUCTION: The puerperium brings with it a series of transformations in the life of
the woman, which can pass through physical changes, hormonal, psychological and in daily
routine. Despite this, there is a negative impact on the sexuality of man which may be due to
the dissatisfaction of the woman with her own body which leads to a negative behavior in
relation to the conjugal relationship. The sexual interest, during this period undergoes large
variations, since the rejection voluntary until its increase. OBJECTIVE: To understand the
perception of men/companions about the sexual activity after childbirth. METHODOLOGY:
It is a study with a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis. The study was conducted in
the city of Cajazeiras-PB and were chosen four Basic Health Units and the human milk bank
as a site of data collection. The sample was composed by all partners/husbands of the
puerperal women who sought by the childcare consultation in the places mentioned above, in
the months of April and May 2018, making a total of 11 individuals. The data were collected
in this period, through the use of a structured interview, addressed to the companions of the
puerperal women. The data were analyzed with content analysis technique and processed by
software IRAMUTEQ. RESULTS: The age of the participants ranged from 24 to 54 years,
the majority were married, with predominant schooling complete higher education, family
income ranged from 01 to 10 minimum wages, most with a son, with predominant time of
relationship with the partner from 7 to 10 years and with wives with postpartum period of
between 9 and 12 months. Through the dendrogram, tree of similarity word cloud generated
by the software, it was found that longer words mentioned were: sex, get and keep. The
majority of individuals reported about the reduction in the frequency of sexual relations,
associated with the arrival of the baby and the stabilisation of the companion. With this, it
assumes a dissatisfaction with the sexual life. The word "stay" refers to the idea of how was
the body of the companion after delivery, and this shows that despite women worry with the
opinion of the partner with respect to his body after the birth of a child, the bodily changes do
not have strong connection or direct with disturbances in sexuality. And "follow", revealed
the prenatal by companions and the lack of guidance on the issue to bed. FINAL
CONSIDERATIONS: Therefore, the present study showed the male sexual dissatisfaction,
observed the lines of reports, associated to the reduction of sexual frequency after childbirth,
due to factors such as fatigue, activities of the new routine and restoration of woman.
Therefore, it is essential that the nurses to act effectively in health education, creating
strategies of inclusion of partners during the pre-natal consultations, with the aim of
empowering the couple, so that the affective-sexual relationship is experienced so quiet.
